Our experience goes all the way back to 1979 when the TRS 80 (Radio Shack) computer began to hit a craze on the home user. We evolved onto the Apple IIe and finally the IBM PC when it was initially release back in the early 80's. The personal computer had not really taken a hold in the corporate world so much of out time was spent on mainframe computers developing and modifying applications using COBOL, PL/1, IMS, and DB2.
In the early 90's, Windows began to make its mark on the corporate world as did the internet. Once the internet took hold, we began developing web based applications when dial-up internet access was the norm. As the internet evolved, do did we. During the 90's there were many different software applications available for development - many which are no longer in business today. The end result was that we were able to understand the basics of web development since we got started in the beginning of the internet craze.
Since 1996, our main focus has been developing web sites and associated applications. We also saw how the internet could become an excellent medium for sharing information. We concentrated on what was known as Knowledge Management and collaborative applications using the internet as the medium for sharing this information. Most of our work was done using Lotus Notes and Domino along with Java and associated internet technoligies (CSS, JavaScript, XML, etc). We also began writing applications with Microsoft technologies (.Net).
Since 2004, we have concentrated on developing only web applications that were both informative for the customer AND easy to maintain for the end user. One of our main goals was to make a web site affordable for just about any size business. We started using a web development package called Mambo which started as a commercial package developed by Miro International. Around mid 2005, the developers and Miro International had a disagreement so the Open Source Matters group of developers took the current version of Mambo (which was now also Open Source) and rebranded it as Joomla. There have been numerous revisions to Joomla and the end result is an extremely flexible software package that is maintained by developers, used by developers, and supported by developers like us.
Joomla is a PHP based system using MySQL as the back end database. This combination of tools and developer support has turned Joomla into a superb web site application development platform. With an extensive array of 3rd party support and modules, we can make your site do just about anything. It also allows us to quickly build a well featured web site at a fraction of the cost and time that it would normally take. This savings is passed on to you, the customer.
So do we have the experience? Yes! We have been developing applications for both the client and the web for many years. We have also been using computers for many years. We get asked what makes us qualified to service hardware. In short, as developers, we have always been responsible for keeping our equipment running. Most of us have networks inside our homes which we maintain. We also have networks at our place of business which we maintain. When a computer has a problem, we do not have time to wait for the Geek Squad or anyone else. Instead, we would fix it ourselves. Time is money so we learned how to make things work.
